Update to OkraFest 2021
Dear GOFM supporters,
We have made the difficult decision to cancel OkraFest 2021. We are heartsick at losing this opportunity to celebrate with you, but that regret is outweighed by our commitment to ensuring we make decisions with community health as our top priority.
Galveston County is currently an area of ‘high coronavirus transmission’ as identified by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the very nature of our shindig means close quarters sharing food & drink and thus we feel it isn’t prudent to move forward with the event this year.
OkraFest has become a staple event for our organization, both culturally and financially. We love throwing this bash, watching it get better and better every year. From an operational perspective, OkraFest has become integral to the fundraising that fuels our markets, Young Gardeners Program, free cooking classes, FreshBox deliveries and much more. We are dismayed at the factors that have led us to this cancellation, but we also have faith in the patience, understanding and Good Egginess of our patrons.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
On behalf of everyone involved with the planning of OkraFest and all who are impacted by its fundraising, I can’t thank you enough for your support, enthusiasm and investment around this year’s event. We’re lucky to have folks who give a hoot about what we do and who love the parties we throw. Cheers to next year, folks!
